In April of 2011, I discovered the paintings of Johannes S. Kjarval while on a vacation in Reykjavik, Iceland.  Kjarval’s emotional approach to paint application, color layering and the landscape of lava-covered Iceland inspired me to look at the landscape around me in Wyoming and push myself further emotionally and technically.
